Marriage is one of the seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church, a sacred covenant established by God in which a man and a woman freely give themselves to one another for life. Through their vows, Christ unites the couple in a bond of faithful, exclusive, and lifelong love, giving them the grace to grow together in holiness, to support one another through every season of life, and to be open to the gift of children according to God’s plan. On their wedding day, the bride and groom become the ministers of the Sacrament by exchanging their consent before God and the Church, while the priest or deacon receives their vows on behalf of the Church and gives the nuptial blessing.
The Marriage Vows
When a Catholic couple marries, they freely promise before God and His Church to:
- Enter marriage freely and without reservation.
- Love and honor one another for the rest of their lives.
- Remain faithful to one another in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.
- Accept children lovingly from God and raise them according to the teachings of Christ and His Church.
These promises form a lifelong covenant that reflects Christ’s faithful love for His Church.
Preparing for Marriage
Preparing for marriage is an important spiritual journey. Couples are asked to contact the parish office at least 4–6 months before their desired wedding date to schedule their first meeting with the priest. During this time, the priest will guide you through the preparation process and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed.
Our parish celebrates weddings on Saturdays throughout the year, and weddings on other days may also be arranged upon request, depending on the parish schedule.
As part of the marriage preparation process, all couples are required to complete El Camino, the diocesan marriage preparation seminar. Couples are encouraged to complete this seminar before their first meeting with the priest whenever possible, as it provides an excellent foundation for your preparation. However, it may also be completed during the 4–6 month preparation period.

El Sacramento del Matrimonio
El Matrimonio es uno de los siete sacramentos de la Iglesia Católica, una alianza sagrada establecida por Dios en la que un hombre y una mujer se entregan libremente el uno al otro para toda la vida. Mediante sus votos, Cristo une a los esposos en un vínculo de amor fiel, exclusivo e indisoluble, concediéndoles la gracia necesaria para crecer juntos en santidad, apoyarse mutuamente en cada etapa de la vida y permanecer abiertos al don de los hijos según el plan de Dios. El día de su boda, los novios son los ministros del Sacramento al expresar libremente su consentimiento ante Dios y la Iglesia, mientras el sacerdote o diácono recibe sus votos en nombre de la Iglesia e imparte la bendición nupcial.
Los Votos Matrimoniales
Al celebrar el Sacramento del Matrimonio, los esposos prometen libremente ante Dios y su Iglesia:
- Contraer matrimonio de manera libre y sin ninguna reserva.
- Amarse y honrarse mutuamente durante toda la vida.
- Permanecer fieles el uno al otro en la prosperidad y en la adversidad, en la salud y en la enfermedad.
- Recibir con amor los hijos que Dios les conceda y educarlos conforme al Evangelio y a las enseñanzas de la Iglesia Católica.
Estas promesas constituyen una alianza para toda la vida y reflejan el amor fiel e inquebrantable de Cristo por su Iglesia.
Preparación para el Matrimonio
La preparación para el matrimonio es un importante camino de crecimiento espiritual. Las parejas deben comunicarse con la oficina parroquial al menos de cuatro a seis meses antes de la fecha deseada para la boda con el fin de programar su primera cita con el sacerdote. Durante este tiempo, el sacerdote los acompañará en su preparación espiritual, revisará la documentación necesaria y los guiará durante todo el proceso.
Nuestra parroquia celebra bodas todos los sábados del año, y también es posible celebrar el sacramento en otros días, previa solicitud y según la disponibilidad parroquial.
Como parte de la preparación matrimonial, todas las parejas deben completar El Camino, el seminario diocesano de preparación para el matrimonio. Se recomienda realizar este curso antes de la primera reunión con el sacerdote, ya que ofrece una excelente base para comenzar la preparación. Sin embargo, también puede completarse durante el período de preparación de cuatro a seis meses.
